Fareej al Mawater is a brand new development on Salwa Road outside Doha on Salwa Road on the way to the KSA border. The project is designed as a destination for used car sales. To achieve this goal it must be attractive enough
to encourage extended stays through a pleasant environment, sound planning, and use mix.
The entire site is connected by a logical hierarchical road network with streetside parking along every street. This is rotated to take advantage of prevailing winds for passive cooling. A public transport loop connects all parts of the site via a bus route. Every street is fronted by dealerships meaning that all along every path there is plenty of shading provided by adjacent buildings. This strategy is in line with sound planning principles encouraged by QSAS and is based in historical regional precedents.
The approach is consistent with the strategy adopted by projects such as Msheireb Heart of Doha and other quality master plans in the region. Overall the Master Plan creates an aesthetically pleasing, affordable, well-appointed destination for KSA based car buyers and the Doha used car market. It will be an attractive relocation move for the existing used car dealers in Doha, and likely create additional traffic beyond their current client base.
