The Link at Masdar Sustainable City in Abu Dhabi, designed by EDGE as the lead consultant, is a highly-rated sustainable project with a flagship net Zero building at the forefront.
A major contributor to our energy use is the built environment, and it is our task as architects to continuously reach for Net Zero carbon impact construction.
All buildings within the parcel are rated for LEED (platinum and gold, none are any lower) WELL (platinum and gold), Estidama 4 pearls, and strict Masdar Sustainability Criteria. These are very strict targets and they have been met for every building.
The public realm is ventilated naturally and shaded by photovoltaic panels. The entire development breathes sustainability.
The project is fully integrated, completely designed in a BIM environment, and extensively energy modeled to ensure optimized performance.
EDGE, as the lead design consultant for this very complex project, coordinated and organized data streams from more than 27 consulting teams into one coherent, highly performing entity.
EDGE Design Director – Founding Partner Ivar Krasinski has always targeted sustainable design in all his work, and with the link, all the experience from the past was brought to bear and pushed to new heights.
The complexity of this project, combined with a challenging design timeline, high standards, and sustainable outcome, point to EDGE’s ability to organize and meet the urgent sustainable design challenges of this time.
